Northern Woods and Water Route

La Northern Woods and Water Route ou NWWR est une autoroute de 2400 km (dont 784 km en Alberta) qui traverse la Colombie-Britannique, l'Alberta, la Saskatchewan et le Manitoba. Dès le début des années 50, plusieurs groupes communautaires se mirent ensemble pour établir une route de voyage vers le nord, proposée sous le nom de Northern Yellowhead Transportation Route (en rérérence à la Yellowhead Highway). La Northern Woods and Water Route Association fut finalement établie en 1974, et encourageait la promotion de la nouvelle route, dans un objectif touristique. L'axe fut nommé Northern Woods and Water Route la même année, allant de Dawson Creek en Colombie-Britannique, sur la British Columbia Highway 49, à Winnipeg, au Manitoba, voyageant dans le nord des provinces de l'ouest.

La Northern Woods and Water Route croise notamment, en Alberta, l'Highway 49, l'Highway 2A, l'Highway 2 et l'Highway 55. Elle emprunte les Highway 49, Highway 2A, Highway 2 et Highway 55.
